Mechanically, the locomotive performs faultlessly and the paint finish is spot on. I am disappointed that the red taillights only work on DCC and as with all Heljan locomotives, I have to break the pipes off to fit the coupling.

This is my third class 02, so I obviously like them…. I waited years for them to arrive and very nearly went for one of the DJH kits. This is streets ahead, especially with its modern DCC interface. All of mine are sound fitted, but an additional larger tablet speaker behind the front grille and a stay alive are essential extras. The only downside is the weak directional lighting. Recommended.
Absolute bargain. Just got to add filth, decent coal load and a DCC chip now.

Another nicely detailed set of wagons. Free running and couple readily. One star dropped because one wagon was missing its coupling and nem pocket. (replacement parts promised by Heljan).
I’m really impressed with my Heljan 3-car Class 104 DMU. It looks fantastic and runs beautifully on the layout. The level of detail throughout the model is excellent and really captures the character of the real unit. It’s a great addition to my fleet and one that always stands out when it’s in service. The user guide is also just as impressive.
