ESU ECoSBoost – Reliable Power Expansion for Large Layouts

On larger model railways, the power demands of multiple locomotives, lighting functions, and accessories can easily exceed the capacity of a central station. The ESU ECoSBoost is designed to solve this problem by dividing your layout into power districts, each supplied by its own booster. Perfectly matched for use with the ESU ECoS or the Märklin® Central Station, the ECoSBoost ensures smooth, reliable operation across even the most complex layouts.

Multi-Protocol Support

• Direct connection to the ECoSlink bus for control signals.

• Amplifies and delivers the formats supported by your command station:

  • DCC, Motorola®, Selectrix®, and mfx®.

• Plug & Play: each ECoSBoost is automatically recognised and can be configured directly from the ECoS display.

Customisable Power Management

• Adjustable maximum output current for each booster.

• Real-time display of power consumption – instantly see how much capacity remains.

• Flexible short-circuit handling: choose whether individual boosters shut down in the event of a fault. For example, turnout decoders can remain powered even if a track section shorts.

Feedback Functionality

• Built-in Global Detector for NMRA bi-directional communication.

• Allows RailCom®-equipped locomotives to send information back to the ECoS, such as position or decoder data.

• Feedback data is transmitted via the high-speed ECoSlink bus for seamless processing.

Safety & Protection

• Track output fully protected against overloads and short circuits.

• Intelligent differentiation between genuine shorts and brief current spikes when crossing points or gaps.
